Panaji (GOA): Acting tough against the Motor Vehicle Act violators, the Directorate of Transport has suspended 240 driving licenses in last three months for various violations.
Of the 240 suspended licenses, 102 are suspended for speaking on mobile while driving or riding and 96 are suspended for drunken driving.
Following rise in accidental deaths and fatalities, the Traffic Cell of Goa Police and Transport department has strictly enforced the Motor vehicle rules.
Director of Transport, Nikhil Desai said that the department is been getting various complaints from all the enforcing agencies includes Traffic Police and based on the complaints and violations the registration authorities have suspended the licences.
Department has recently launched the complaint app which can be downloaded on the mobile and complaints of traffic violations can be reported.
Desai informed that in last 20 days over 400 people have downloaded the complaint app while department has received almost 80 odd complaints.
