51 CANDIDATES TO FIGHT FOR 16 VP WARDS ON JULY 1

Panaji (GOA): Total 51 candidates are in fray from 16 wards in eleven panchayat for the July 1 by-polls.

A women candidate Leticia Miranda from ward III of Betalbatim panchayat is been elected unopposed.

On Thursday, total six candidates withdrew from the election battle, leaving 51 in fray. There were 57 candidates, of which one is elected unopposed.

The counting of all the wards in eleven panchayats will take place on July 2.

The eleven panchayat includes Bastora (Ward I) with six candidates, Anjuna-Caisua (Ward I) has four candidates, Penha-de-franca (Ward VIII & IX) had three candidates each in the two wards, Curca- Bambolim (Ward I) two candidates, Merces (Ward VI) two candidates, Advalpal (Ward V) three candidates, Betki-Khandola (Ward V & VI) five and three candidates each, Nuvem (Ward X) four candidates, Betalbatim (Ward V, VII) has three and two candidates each, Chandor (Ward V) has three candidates and Sancoale (Ward V & VI) has five and three candidates.
