GOA: VIJAY FOR VIJAI SARDESAI IN CORRUPTION CASE

Margao (Goa): South Goa court today dismissed the plea filed against State agriculture minister Vijai Sardesai.

South Goa Principal District and Sessions Court dismissed the plea filed by a social activist seeking directions to file FIR against State Agriculture Minister Vijai Sardesai in connection with the prevention of corruption act.

Judge B P Deshpande today dismissed the plea filed by social activist Aires Rodrigues ruling that “the mandatory sanction from the State government required under section 19 of Prevention of Corruption Act was not taken.”

Special Public Prosecutor Saiesh Mahambrey represented police department including Superintendent of Police during the case which came up for hearing today.

Rodrigues in his petition filed last month before the Judge had submitted the audio recording between Sardesai and another social activist Kashinath Shetye allegedly related to the illegal conversion of open spaces at Verna in the land owned by Goa Industrial Development Corporation.

In the petition filed under section 156 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Code, Rodrigues had sought directions to the Fatorda Police to register FIR against Sardesai and unknown others under sections 420 read with section 511 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code and section 7 and 13 of Prevention of Corruption Act.
