Panaji  (Goa): IAS officer and former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat’s close aide has turned into a crucial witness in mining case in what could give the politician sleepless night ahead of his anticipatory bail hearing.

Rajiv Yaduvanshi, principal mines secretary in the Congress-led government from 2006-11 deposed before a local magistrate to record his statement under section 164 of CrPC. It is learnt through sources that he has accused political pressure for every decision then.

However, no officer has confirmed the contents of the statement. SP Kartik Kashyap has only confirmed recording of statement before magistrate late evening.

Incidentally, the local court on Saturday will hear anticipatory bail application of Kamat.
