GOA: GOVT IMPOSES SECTION 144 IN THE PANJIM CITY

PANAJI (GOA):  Ahead of upcoming nine-day IFFI 2017, the North Goa Collector has imposed section 144 IPC in the capital city, that will host thousands of international and national delegates for the event. 

The District Magistrate, North Goa has ordered that the Campal Parade Ground and Azad Maidan,  Panaji, will be the only two designated location of organizing protest rallies, morchas, processions, hunger strikes, dharnas, agitations and other forms of protest in Panaji city. 

“The order is been issued in view of the various upcoming state organised functions like IFFI and Feast of Saint Francis Xavier, etc,” the order stated.

Any person or persons violating the order shall be punishable under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

The IFFI 2017 will be held from November 20-28.

The feast of Saint Francis Xavier will be held on December 4, this year.
