GOA: GEL TO IDENTIFY BOGUS BENEFICIARIES OF SOCIAL WELFARE SCHEMES

PANAJI (GOA): The State government has decided to appoint Goa Electronic Limited (GEL) to conduct survey of the beneficiaries of various social welfare schemes implemented by it. 

Dayanand Social Security scheme (DSS) is being implemented by social welfare department since 2002 and Laadli Laxmi and Griha Aadhaar by women and child development department from 2013.

The decision to survey the beneficiaries was basically to identify the bogus beneficiaries. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had made the announcement on the floor of the House to review all the social welfare schemes. 

During the survey, to be carried out taluka wise, documents and income proof affidavits submitted by the beneficiaries will be cross-checked.

As per government records, there are 1.41 lakh beneficiaries under DSSS, and 1.51 lakh under Griha Aadhaar schemes. So far, over 48,000 girls have availed of benefit under Laadli Laxmi
scheme.
