Panaji (Goa): Goa Mahila Congress has called on Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar seeking his support for introducing and passing of Women Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha, which speaks about 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament and State Assembly.

The Mahila Congress delegation led by President Adv Pratima Coutinho today morning submitted memorandum to Chief Minister requesting him to write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to introduce the Women Reservation Bill in the upcoming winter session of the Parliament.

“The introduction of the bill during the winter session of the Parliament is imperative to ensure the reservation is in place for the next general elections in 2019, as there is substantial work envisaged by the bill after being passed,” Coutinho said in the memorandum.

She said that their signature campaign launched in May, in support of bill, has received nearly 33 lakh signs.
