Porvorim (Goa)  The suspense over the splitting of North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) has finally got over. Town and Country planning board today recommended formation of ‘Greater Panaji’ PDA, which might ruffle some feathers in the ruling camp.

Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai after chairing the board meeting this evening announced the formation of new PDAs one for Bambolim, Dona Paula pleateau area and another one for the area around upcoming international airport at Mopa.

The move has been looked upon as a possible trigger for discontent for BJP MLA and NGPDA Chairman Michael Lobo. But the board has subtly tried to tame Lobo by including Mapusa, Calangute and Arpora areas in NGPDA while retaining Panaji in it.

Lobo in the past had expressed his dissent over the move to bifurcate NGPDA and had even threatened to step down from the post of Chairman, if board takes the decision. The issue had become bone of contention in the ruling government with TCP board meeting being deferred once.
