Ribandar (Goa): The beleaguered former chief minister Digambar Kamat has appeared before the special investigation team (SIT) in connection with probe into illegal condobation of 40 mining leases.
The investigating officer has begun his questioning.
Accompanied by his Personal Assistant, Kamat appeared at Crime Branch office Ribandar a while ago even as the media is waiting for his reaction once the interrogation concludes.
A senior officer said that the questioning is likely to continue till afternoon hours. While he is being given quizzed in illegal condonation, his close relatives are under scanner for holding positions as directors of suspicious companies. His son Yogiraj and brother in law Satish Lawande were grilled this week while more kith and kind are expected to face questioning next week.
As many as 25 companies some of which aware are elated to minimise are being probed wherein Kamat’s wife Asha is also reportedly one of the directors.
