Panaji (Goa) Anjuna Police have filed First Information Report against social activist Aires Rodrigues after a married woman accused him of sexually harassing her and outraging her modesty. The lady is the one who was linked to the sex scan alleging involvement of Water Resources department minister Vinod Paliencar.
Anjuna police have filed FIR against Rodrigues has been booked under sections 354 (A) (iv)(sexual harassment), 509 (words or gesture to insult modesty of a woman), 500 (punishment for defamation).
In her complaint, she has said that on November 04, 2017, Rodrigues had circulated on Facebook and Whatsapp an alleged video footage of Paliencar with a lady from Oxel, Siolim.
She stated that again on next day, Rodrigues circulated message that he has sought an appointment with Goa Governor Mridula Sinha to update her on alleged sex scandal.
The complainant has claimed that on November 07, Rodrigues circulated her picture on whatsapp linking her to the alleged sex scandal.
“I came to know about the said Post two days later due to which I was not been able to move out of the house,” she has claimed adding that her image was tarnished due to which many started making comments on her character and even the husband of the complainant has started drinking and stayed out of the house.
The complainant states that due to said act of Aires Rodrigues her family has been disturbed and through this act and her modesty has been outraged in public life.
She said that she had questioned Rodrigues by visiting at his office at around 9 a.m she along with her husband to question Rodrigues as regards to the said Post where he had admitted that he has circulated the said Post without any basis and factual standings.
When contacted, Paliencar representing Siolim constituency on Goa Forward party refused his involvement in the matter.
“It is wrong, if any woman’s name is tarnished by certain individual at behest of someone. All my voters in Siolim are my people. I meet hundreds of people everyday,” he said.
“The Social activist should remember that he also has a daughter before spooling anyone’s name. This shows the culture and upbringing of social activist,” Paliencar commented.
