Panaji (Goa) The State Fisheries department is all set to hold the fourth edition of Aqua Goa Mega Fish Festival 2017-18 from December 7-10 at SAG ground Campal in Panjim.
The festival, aimed at promoting fish culture was first launched in 2014.
Union Minister for Fisheries Radha Mohan Singh will be the special guest for the inaugural scheduled on December 7.
Speaking to reporters, Fisheries Minister Vinod Palyenkar said that the government has initiated this festival to promote Goa’s rich fish culture, the fishing industry and to create awareness among the general public on the varied underwater world.
“The festival will provide a common platform for stakeholders to come together to build a strong economy in the fisheries sector and to form a win-win bond between the traditional fishing industry and a technology driven industry,” Palyenkar said.
The event will highlight aquarium fish gallery, commercial stalls, live fish pond competitions, along with seminars and workshops promoting fishing sector as one of the career option for the youths
