ELKAY Chemicals was set up in 1992 in Bhosari, by Dr. Ravi Kulkarni and Mr. A. K. Lokapur. A new specialty silicone manufacturing unit was recently inaugurated in Lote Parshuram at the hands of Hon. Union Minister Shripad Naik. 

He said “this unit is the beginning of fulfilling the dream our Prime Minister’s “Make-in-India” concept. Manufacturing is not only an industry but it is nation-building work. It will give employment to the young generation.” He gave best wishes to the company for becoming the topmost silicone oil manufacturing unit globally.

Dr. Ravi Kulkarni, MD, said that Silicone oil-related products are used in agriculture crop protection, aviation, to defense, FMCG, construction, petrochemicals, textiles and drug intermediaries. Today, the company caters to critically needed requirements of contraceptives, agriculture, horticulture, pharmaceuticals, rubber & tyre, textile finishing, distillery, construction, steel and oil & gas.

Mr. Lokapur said that the company is manufacturing 75 products which fall under the category of performance chemicals, which are traditionally manufactured in advanced countries such as USA, Europe, and Japan. ELKAY remains sole manufacturer in India for about a quarter of its portfolio. Half the production in the new Lote facility will be exported to 140 countries. The company is a government certified “Star Export House” and all products have been indigenously developed in DST approved in-house R&D lab. ELKAY has evolved into an innovation-centric organization focused on leveraging Indian technical talent for securing global business footprint in the silicone industry.
