Panaji (Goa): The State government came to rescue of several fishermen with their trawlers from Kerala, who were stranded at Mormugao Port after impact of Ockhi cyclone.

The South Goa district collector through Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) provided the trawlers with fuel so as to enable them to move back to Kerala.

Government of Kerala had approached State with a request to provide assistance to their fishermen with the assurance to bear the cost.

MPT agreed to provide the required fuel and raise the bills to the Government  for the settlement.

Earlier this week, State cabinet decided to provide financial assistance of Rs five crore to the States affected with Ockhi cyclone. The amount will be deposited in the Prime Minister Relief Fund.
