Panaji (Goa): Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today announced to extend the duration of functioning of the State Legislative Assembly to 40-45 days annually, from the coming year onwards.

“From Budget session onwards, the duration of the sitting of the House for the year will be 40-45 days minimum,” Parrikar told reporters at the sidelines of his birthday celebration.

The Budget session 2018-19 will be held in February.

“When the sessions are short, several questions are asked in one session. If there are more days then the questions can spread out,” he said adding that several times, pointed questions are not asked by the legislators due to which the proper answers cannot be given.

Parrikar said that the assembly issues help you to understand which way your department is going. “They give you a feedback. I always correct if there is something wrong,” he said.
