Ivory Coast National arrested.
In a major drug busting raid Calangute police have seized psychotropic substances worth Rs. 4 lakhs from the possession of an Ivoirienne National Mr. Jerry Alex, age-37 yrs, N/o Abidjan, Ivory Coast during a narcotic raid conducted at Candolim-Goa.
Pi Jivba Dalvi informed that information was received from sources that one foreign national would be coming at Candolim to deliver a consignment of drugs containing LSD and MDMA before Christmas Eve. Accordingly police had kept a strict vigil in the area from past few days. Finally on 20/12/2017 at midnight it was confirmed that the foreigner has come down at Candolim. Accordingly a team was formed in a short period of time. Further the raiding team seperated and kept watch at various points in Candolim road stretch. As soon as the suspected foreigner was spotted at Anna Vado, Candolim all the members of the raiding team were alerted to gather at Anna Vado. However the accused foreigner suspected police movement and started to run away. But after hectic efforts and a brave chase police finally apprehended the foreigner and detained him. Upon questioning the foreigner disclosed that he had come to provide the drugs to prospective customers. Personal search was conducted and LSD papers worth Rs. 2,40,000/- and MDMA worth Rs. 1,50,000/- was seized from his possession. In addition to this one mobile phone and one Activa scooter bearing No:GA 03 AD 4926 was taken into custody during the raid. The raid was conducted from 02:00am to 05:30am during early morning hours.
Accused foreigner is presently in police lockup and interrogation is being carried out. Police will be seeking remand from the court today. Offence has been registered under section 22(c) of NDPS Act.
This is the third major case booked by Calangute police on the Eve of Christmas and new year.
The raiding team consisted of PI Jivba Dalvi himself along with PSI Mahesh Naik, PSI Sitaram Malik police constables Dinesh Morajkar, Govind Shirodkar, Vallabh Pedne kar and Vinod Kerkar.
