Panaji (Goa): A minor fire broke out today afternoon at pier 33 of the third Mandovi Bridge which is currently under construction. According to sources, a hessian cloth which was secured to the pier caught fire due to the short-circuit of a construction power cable.

Due to timely action, the fire was contained and any further mishap was prevented.

GSIDC has asked the contractor to submit a detailed report on the minor mishap to avoid any such incidents in future.
