Calangute (Goa) The increased security during New Years eve in the coastal tourist destination of Calangute and Candolim has worked very nicely.

As per PI Jivba Dalvi the security for this new year celebrations was increased compared to last year. Several Watch towers were erected to keep a watch on the activities of tourists and public and unsocial elements. 

Public announcement system was setup on all watch towers to announce safety guidelines for the tourists. This  made the tourists extra cautious of their belongings and as such the cases of missing mobiles and handbags were reduced by more than 70 % compared to last year on new year eve. Also increased police presence on watch towers and on the road prevented tourists from creating nuisance under the influence of alcohol. As such compared to last year no any  of incidents like eve teasing or street fights happened. Their were some incidents which were fully under control as police were present almost at every point in and around Candolim and Calangute. During the Entire new year eve the security was under the supervision of SP north Shri Kartik Kashyap IPS who himself was present on ground in the jurisdiction.
