Calangute (Goa): Tragedy struck a family from Uttar Pradesh when four year old girl died in a swimming pool at Calangute.

Aarini Gupta (4) from Uttar Pradesh who was on a vacation in Goa this afternoon died due to drowning at Hotel Sea Breeze resort at Calangute, police inspector Jivba Dalvi said.

The girl had come to Goa with her parents and other family members and were staying in the hotel. “Today afternoon the family had planned to enter the swimming pool and as such told their daughter and other children to wait in the hotel lobby,” Dalvi said.

“However, the minor girl entered in the swimming pool while the parents were unaware and eventually got drowned,” he added.

“The other persons who were swimming in the pool noticed the girl seeking help and was rescued. As she was uneasy, she was rushed to government run health centre at Candolim village where she was declared brought in dead,” Dalvi said.

The family of the girl is a native of Shahajanpur in Uttar Pradesh and had come along with other four families including their relatives to Goa for vacation and were supposed to leave back on May 14, he said.
