COP BANS FOCUS LIGHTS ON RIVER CRUISE VESSELS

Panaji (Goa) Captain of Ports on Tuesday banned the high-intensity tracer/ focus lights used on the decks of cruise vessels plying in the River Mandovi.

The direction comes a day after Directorate of Transport recommended the same as the lights was distracting the motorists and other commuters.

“It has been brought to the notice that some cruise vessels in River Mandovi are using  high-intensity tracer/ focus lights, that could lead to a major distraction for drivers, motorists proceeding on the Mandovi bridge as well as the DB Marga. Due to this the possibility of fatal accident cannot be ruled out,” the circular issued to various cruise operators, reads.

“Therefore, it is been informed that the use of high-intensity tracer/ focus lights on board is banned with immediate effect,” it added.
