GOA: SCIENCE FILM FESTIVAL IN GOA FROM JANUARY 16-19

Panaji (Goa) The annual affair, Science film Festival of India will be hosting the 3rd edition of SCI-FFI GOA 2018 between 16th to 19th of January 2018. Organised by Vidnyan Parishad Goa, the main aim of the initiative is to promote science filmmaking culture in Goa. This event is supported by the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Goa and Entertainment Society of Goa and Goa College of Art.

The Science Film Making Competition is an attractive part of the SCI-FFI festival. The competition is in two categories of films upto 5 minutes duration and over 5 minutes. The first prize for the best film is a cash prize of INR 25,000. The three best films will also receive cash prizes. Other categories include best Direction/Research presentation, and best Cinematography, Editing and Design.   The total prize money is Rs 1.00 lakhs and will be given away during the opening ceremony on 16th Jan.

Since this competition aims to boost the culture of science films, all the films submitted should be related to science and technology. The subject matter should be related to any aspect of science pursued in Goa, like research, analysis or innovations or even notable personalities from the field of science & technology.   Films that inspire, exhibit, express or acknowledge science fit the basic selection criteria for this contest.

Multiple entries are allowed but each will require to be submitted with separate application form, registration and in separate DVD or pen drive, preferably in the HD format. Films in language other than in English should carry English subtitles. All entries must be accompanied by film production stills/slides properly labelled for use in the festival promotion. Each film must be an original work by the participant. Each participant has to submit a declaration letter stating that it is original work and not copied in any sense.

Schools students are specially invited to submit films as they can shoot a film on their mobile phone on any topic of science to win big prizes

The last date of film submission is the 12th of January 2018.
