Panaji (Goa) Continuing its attach on chief minister Manohar Parrikar on the issue of Mhadei, Shiv Sena has said that he was trying to make Goa ‘Mhadei mukt’ in his endeavour to have ‘Congress-mukt’ Bharat. Sena was referring to BJP’s plans to win upcoming Karnataka elections.
This is what Sena’s spokesman Rakhi Prabhudesai Naik and Jitesh Kamat has said:
The statement by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar that it is inevitable for Goa to give share of Mhadei river water to Karnataka has completely exposed him and his party. After claiming that he will take care of the interest of Goans, Parrikar has clearly said that the state will have to share the water.
Sena is completely disagreeing with his stand on the issue which leaves the fight to save Mhadei completely redundant. The struggle which was put up by activists to save Mhadei has been turned into a joke by Parrikar who has gone to the extent of calling the activists as ‘actors.’
Sena had expressed the fear that Parrikar would compromise with the interest of the State on Mhadei issue, which has turned true. The explanation given by Parrikar on why he has toned down his stand is ‘completely unacceptable.’ It clearly smacks of his party politics and urge to win Karnataka elections.
To make India “Congress mukt”, BJP and Parrikar are all set to make Goa “Mhadei Mukt” by stooping down to the lowest level of compromise over our River. Sena expected Parrikar, like a real son of soil, to fight against all the attempt to share even a drop of water from Mhadei river.
We are speechless the way Parrikar has done climbdown on the issue. Sena still feels that good wisdom will prevail upon Parrikar and he will take the beautiful ‘U’ turn on his current stand so that people will remember his statesmanship.
