CALANGUTE POLICE RESCUE MINORS FROM BEACH

Calangute  (Goa): Two days after Tourism Minister Manohar Azgaonkar and local MLA Michael Lobo entered into cold wars over menace on the beaches, Calangute police have begun a crackdown on illegal hawkers and beggars.  

 
Calangute police rescued four minor boys who were found on Calangute beach roaming around without any parent or guardian. As per PI Jivba Dalvi operation was conducted to trace minor children who wander on the beaches during the late hours without any parent or guardian. As such four underage boys were found on Calangute beach and with the help of local NGO, they were rescued. 
 
Further as their parents remained untraced their medical examination was conducted and produced before the member of  Child Welfare Committee and after obtaining order they were admitted to Apna Ghar, Merces for safe custody and protection. 
 
“Efforts are on to trace their parents,” PI Dalvi informed adding that in a similar operation 12 children were rescued last month and this drive will continue to ensure safety of the children in Calangute.
 
Last weekend, Lobo had slammed the authorities for failing to tackle the menace by pointing at increasing presence of migrant children,who were creating a nuisance for the tourists on the beaches. Azgaonkar charged Lobo with speaking to media without facts while mentioning that he has already directed police to take action.
