To symbolise the unity and brotherhood between the people belonging to different religions in Goa, the authorities have taken an initiative for the beautification of the Santa Cruz chapel and Shanta Durga temple on Calangute road and name it as the Harmony Circle.

The move has been appreciated by many residents of Calangute. “Being the tourist hub of Goa, the current move by the authorities to name the temple and chapel area as Harmony Circle, will serve as a symbol which will showcase the Goan unity to those who visit Goa”. Said Amey Joshi a local resident.

The Hindu and Christian communities of goa have been living in harmony for centuries together inspite of the communal tensions spreading across the country Goa has always remained peaceful. The relations between both the communities in Goa is what needs to be showcased to the visiting tourists so that they can take it back to their native states. It is a welcome move by the Calangute panchayat and the local MLA and Dy. Speaker Mr. Michael Lobo who have taken such a wonderful initiative. This will truly showcase the true spirit of Goa to the visiting Tourists.
