Panaji (Goa) “Many of the cow vigilantes are sponsored by BJP-led state government,” Congress Senior leader Francisco Sardinha alleged today accusing government of trying to satisfy RSS by acting against beef supply to State.
“Many of these cow vigilantes are sponsored by the State government to disturb the influx of beef in the State,” former MP told reporters during a press conference.
He said that the cow vigilantes have began harassing the beef suppliers despite the fact that the imports from Karnataka are completely legal.
“Government basically wants to satisfy their RSS,” he said.
“We live in a secular country where one cannot dictate terms. No one can tell us what we should eat or what we should not,” Sardinha said.
While urging government to resolve the issue at the earliest, Sardinha pointed out that beef is a part of Goa’s staple food, consumed by the minorities. “Nearly 50 percent of the tourists visiting the State eat beef,” he claimed.
