CALANGUTE POLICE ARRESTS HP RESIDENT FOR DRUGS

Calangute (Goa): While the Calangute police are on a mission to rescue juveniles – wandering without parents or guardians – from beaches, it has simultaneously resumed crackdown on drug related activities too. The sleuths have seized drugs worth Rs 2 lakh approx and arrested an alleged drug peddler from Himachal Pradesh.

As per information shared by PI Jivba Dalvi, the sleuths waited near a hotel at Calangute where the suspected drug peddler was expected to arrive with the consignment. “On reaching the spot, our team nabbed him and found, on personal search, charas and ganja. The drugs in the international market costs around Rs 2 lakh (charas worth Rs 1.40 lakh and ganja worth Rs 55,000). We have arrested accused Puranchand Kumar, aged 22 years,” the officer told reporters. Prima facie investigation has revealed that the drugs was transported from his native place. An offense under section 20(b)(i)(A) of NDPS Act has been registered and investigation is in progress,” PI Dalvi said.
