Porvorim (Goa): Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, preparing to present the State budget on February 22, said this time the Budget will be of different style. “The assembly session will be summoned on February 19 with the address from Governor. I will present the Budget on February 22. The Budget will be of different nature, different style,” he said at a press briefing after a cabinet meet held at Ministerial Block today.
The month-long session will conclude on March 22 during which there will be discussions on Governor’s speech, General Budget and on demands for grants of various departments. The demands for grants of less complicated departments would be held every Friday during the session period.
“Specific meetings to give final touches to the Budget documents will begin from January 24,” the CM, who also holds Finance Portfolio, said.
Parrikar further went on to state that his government has provided more welfare schemes to the people of Goa than any other governments. “More than Rs 70-80 crore goes back to the people per month and more than 80 per cent of the families in one way or the other benefits through various government schemes,” he added.
