Panaji (Goa) Government will soon be amending the Goa Municipalities Act, whereby the councilors failing to submit their financial statement before the Goa Lokayukta would be liable for disqualification in future.

Minister for Urban Development Francis D’Souza said that the councilors are not punctual in their submission before Lokayukta as there is no serious action.

D’Souza said that government will bring in necessary amendment to the Act, wherein those councilors who fail to submit their financial details to Lokayukta would be liable for disqualification.

Every year, Goa Lokayukta directs all public functionaries that include Ministers, MLAs, Panch members, councilors, ZP members, etc to file their respective statement of assets and liabilities for the concluded financial year. Failure to do so, forces Lokayukta to make their names public.
