Panaji (Goa) Goa Government has confirmed that Karnataka has blocked the Mhadei tributary by resuming work full swing on the diversion project of the Kalsa nullah at Kankumbi.

Karnataka’s move is in clear violation of its own submission before Supreme Court in August last year wherein it has assured that it will not undertake construction work of Kalsa- Bhandura project.

Minister for Water Resources Department (WRD) Vinod Palyenkar has confirmed the development following site inspection by the WRD engineers.

“Karnataka has started the construction of head regulator and allied work on the Kalsa nullah in total disregard of the orders of the Tribunal and Supreme Court directives,” he said.

Minister said that the government of Goa is seized with the issue and letters will be sent to the Karnataka government on the matter. “We will also make submission before the Tribunal, which is hearing the matter,” Palyenkar said.
