Panaji (Goa) In what should lay to rest the popular myth about Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, he said that he does not any more travel on a two-wheeler fearing accident.
The media reports had often projected Parrikar as the one “who is still going around on a scooty in his home town.”
“People ask me whether I travel on scooter. I told them that I don’t travel by scooter any more, I used to travel earlier,” Parrikar told gathering of BJP workers in Canacona yesterday.
“I can’t be on a scooter as my mind is filled with several work related thoughts. While mind is elsewhere, if I ride the scooter, then someone will come and bang me and I will be in hospital,” said Parrikar riding a point of traffic safety during his interaction with the people.
“That is why, I avoid riding a scooter or travelling on it. You never know when there will be an accident,” the chief minister said.
Parrikar said that the State government will be adopting various measures to reduce accidents on the road resulting in fatalities.
In past several media reports had claimed that Parrikar was still going around on a scooter in Panaji and often seen purchasing his own stuff in the local market.
