GOA: MPT EMPLOYEES MEET CM; SEEK HIS INTERVENTION IN RESTORING CONSENT FOR COAL HANDLING

The Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) employees union today called on Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and sought his intervention in restoring the Consent to operate to coal handling activities of M/s South West Port Ltd (SWPL) and Mooring Dolphins at MPT in a bid to protect the livelihood of those dependent on the business.

Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) on January 9 revoked the consent to operate granted to berth number 5A and 6A of the SWPL and suspended the coal handling activities.

The Goa Port and Dock Employees Union, MPT Retired Officers Association and Mormugao Port Trust Officer’s Association office bearers submitted memorandum to Chief Minister and appealed him to intervene to restore consent to operate the coal handling activities at SWPL and at Mooring Dolphins at MPT to protect the livelihood of employees/workers, pensioners, family pensioners and their dependents.
