GOA: THREE FROM SURAT, GUJARAT ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING TAXI DRIVER

Goa Police arrested three persons including a minor boy from Surat, Gujarat for assaulting a taxi driver at Saligao.   

Police stated at all the three had hired a taxi to visit various places in Goa, but had refused to pay the fare which triggered the assault.

Saligao Police Inspector Santosh Desai said that accused Sarvesh Singh, Bhavesh Vyas and a minor boy assaulted taxi driver Vinod Kudnekar with a knife on his neck when he was driving the vehicle.

As per the complaint filed with police, trio had hired a taxi from Calangute to go to Ponda but had no money on them to pay for the fare. When driver asked for the money, they admitted to be not carrying the cash and demanded that they be dropped back to Calangute.

While on the way to Calangute, all three started assaulting the driver and one of them stabbed him on his neck, Desai said.

The driver has been admitted to the hospital with serious injuries and is currently undergoing a treatment.
