Panaji (Goa)
Congress party today demanded that Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho be dropped from the State cabinet, after Supreme Court refused to grant him relief in the infamous multi-crore power scam case.
The Bombay High Court at Goa had directed framing of charges against Godinho under Section 13(1) (d) (i) and (iii) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 read with Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code in connection with the alleged power scam case.
Then leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar is the complainant in the case.
Addressing a press conference, All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary Girish Chodankar demanded that the Minister be dropped from the cabinet and trail be commenced immediately.
He said that Parrikar should drop the Minister from the cabinet as the accused and complainant cannot be part of the same cabinet.
“If Parrikar has some moral ethics and if he still stand by his case of corruption then, such corrupt Minister should be dropped immediately and set an precedent,” Chodankar demanded.
