Panaji (Goa) The Goa Forward party (GFP), the coalition partners in the BJP led government has decided to act as a watchdog in the Mhadei river water diversion issue.
GPF chief spokesperson Trajano D’Mello said that party will ensure that no water is diverted to Karnataka even for drinking purpose.
He informed that during the party’s political affairs committee meeting held on Tuesday, the members raised the issue of Mhadei with the WRD Minister Vinod Palyekar.
“The minister has assured that he will not dilute his stand on Mhadei. The party members will continue to be the watchdogs on the Mhadei issue,” D’Mello told reporters.
“We will not allow any kind of political compulsion or anyone to intermediate,” he added.
The GFP leader said that any dilution of stand on the Mhadei issue will be looked at seriously and would be termed as an attempt of Goa’s merger with Karnataka.
“The party will assure that Goa’s Identity will be retained at any cost and torpedo any or all conspiracies that may be attempted by anyone to liquidate our natural resources,” he said.
