PANAJI: The Linc Tower Run, Goa 2018 will be held on Sunday, January 28 at 7.45am. This is the fifth edition of this unusual race up and down the staircases of five seven-storeyed buildings (totally 840 steps up and 840 steps down) at Panaji’s business hub, EDC Complex, Patto, Panaji.
Addressing a press conference in the city, Adventure Breaks CEO Kim Sabir said that apart from the race, a mini-festival of Health and the Physical Arts is on the schedule, including interactive lecture-demonstrations of martial arts like Krav Maga, Kali and Kick Boxing, in which observers can participate. Sheryl and the Studio Divas will hold a spirited Zumba dance session. Norbert’s Fitness Studio will conduct a warm-up workout for participants. Diet Clinic will host a Nutrition Quiz. Fun sports like Tug-of-War and Slack Lining are on the schedule.
The Crown General Manager Bobby Saxena said that stalls at the venue would promote healthy food and activities. Aquasail will showcase Sailing and Windsurfing. Adventure Breaks will promote Rock Climbing. Krazy Kats will offer healthy wraps and gourmet sandwiches. Frugurt will offer participants fruit yoghurts. Aunty Catarinas will make fruit smoothies. Omelettes and idlis will be on sale at attractive prices. A live music programme will conclude the event.
Linc Properties Director Raghav Jalan said that his company was “excited” to sponsor the event, and it encourages its employees to climb the stairs in the office, instead of taking the lift. He disclosed that prizes will be awarded to the winners of the three races by Commandant of the Naval War College at INS Mandovi Rear Admiral Sandeep Beecha. The Guest of Honour is the CMD of The Crown hotel Rajesh Dempo.
In the Individual Race, participants run up and down the stairs of Gera’s Imperium II, Gera’s Imperium I, Kamat Plaza, and Dempo Trade Centre (twice), and then to the finish. There are three categories: Student (18-), Open (19-44) and Veteran (45+). In the Team Race, teams of five members do a relay; each person runs up and down one building and passing the baton to the next. There are three Team categories: Groups, Corporate and Student. Mr Jalan said that 30 companies had already registered for the race, and more were expected to compete for the Linc Trophy. Mr Sabir said a new trophy was being instituted for Best College. The Vertical Sprint is a race up the seven stories of Gera’s Imperium II, ending on the 7th floor.
Individual Registration is Rs600 (Rs300 for students). Team registration is Rs5,000 for corporates and just Rs1,000 for students. Vertical Sprint is Rs400. Online Registration for the Linc Tower Run, Goa 2018 is open on the website http://www.towerrunning.in till Thursday 25 January midnight.
