GOA: ENSURE 220 WORKING DAYS, DoE INSTRUCT SCHOOLS

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has directed all the schools in the State to maintain a minimum of 220 working days and 200 instructional days for the coming academic year 2018-19.

In a circular issued to heads of the school, Director Education GP Bhat has said that each schools instruction over has to be minimum 5 hours 30 minutes daily, excluding recess.

 “The total number of working days including examination days for the primary, secondary and higher secondary schools shall not be less than 220 days and total number of instructional days shall not be less than 200 days during the academic year 2018-19,” Bhat said.

“The school instructional hours shall not be less than five hours 30 minutes per day, exclusive of school recess. Accordingly, the timing of the school, is to be adjusted without altering the total number of periods,” he said further.

The schools are asked to conduct the first term and mid-term examination between June 4, 2018 to November 3, while the second term and midterm between November 26 to April 30, 2019.

Ganesh Chatturthi festival break will be from September 12 to September 18, while the Diwali vacations will start from November 5 and end on November 24. The Christmas holidays are between December 24 to January 1, 2019.

The one month long summer vacations will commence from May 1, 2019. The schools will reopen on June 4, 2019.
