GOA: GOA ASSEMBLY RECEIVES FIVE RESOLUTIONS ON STATUE

Ahead of month-long Budget session, beginning from February 19, the State Legislative Assembly has received five private member resolutions demanding installation of statue of various leaders in the assembly complex.

Deputy Speaker and BJP MLA Michael Lobo and NCP MLA Churchill Alemao moved resolution for installation of Father of Opinion Poll- Dr Jack de Sequeira statue. Congress also moved a similar resolution signed by all its 16 MLAs.

MGP MLA Deepak Pawaskar has filed resolution demanding statue of Dr TB Cunha and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia, for their contribution in the State Liberation. BJP legislator Rajesh Patnekar too has moved a resolution for Shivaji Maharaj statue.

Speaker Dr Pramod Sawant confirmed that total five private member resolution demanding installation of statue of various leaders are been moved before the State Assembly.

“However, the final power rest with me,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Budget session will commence with Inaugural address of Goa Governor Dr Mridula Sinha. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will place the State Budget 2018-19 on February 22. 

Till date, total 1608 questions are received by the State Assembly which includes 996 unstarred and 612 starred questions.
