The Shiv Sena unit of Goa has strongly criticized the statement by Tourism Minister Babu Ajgaonkar warning to chase away the tourists, if they don’t follow Goa’s culture.
The Shiv Sena Unit of Goa has also released a press note which strongly criticizes Ajgaonkar’s statement and reads- “This kind of arrogant statement does not augur well with the growth of tourism industry in the State. Ajgaonkar should remember that after systematic collapse of the mining industry by State government which he supports, Goa’s economy is solely dependent on tourism.”
Speaking to the media persons, Goa Shiv Sena unit member Rakhi Prabhudesai Naik said, “statements after statements against domestic tourists by the ministers in State cabinet seem to be a planned move towards achieving a certain goal, which we can’t predict right now. It can be a goal to benefit the five-star hotel lobbies, or certain section of tourism industry. These jibes against the tourists do not come out of nowhere. It is planned. The tourism minister should first spell out what he means when he says ‘culture of Goa?’ He seems to be completely confused. Rather he is misfit for the post of tourism minister due to his lack of exposure towards outside world. Sena would like to advice Ajgaonkar to first meet the tourism stakeholders and know their view point before screaming anything from the public platforms.”
