Anjuna (Goa): As the Goa police struggles to find a lead in the mysterious death of a woman, the investigation team has released fresh pictures of the gold ornaments retrieved from the charred body. The Anjuna police, three days ago, found a charred body on a playground in Siolim, one of the popular coastal village in the north.
North SP Kartik Kashyap has just a while ago released photos of the ornaments that the unidentified woman had worn at the time she was allegedly burnt to death. “We request that the photos may be widely publicised and the victim could be identified by the relatives,” he said.
It was at around 7:30am last Friday that the Anjuna police received a call from a passerby informing about a charred body lying in the bushes at Baman Wado. The body was burnt beyond recognition and since then the police are groping the dark to identify the victim. “Unless the victim is identified, it will be difficult to trace the accused. Once the body is identified, we may be able to lay our hands on the accused and the motive behind the gruesome murder,” said an officer to TNV.
The police have also reached out to the general public seeking their cooperation but in vain. “We have appealed to the people to give us clue, if any. Their identity will be kept confidential. But so far, no witnesses have deposed,” Anjuna police inspector Sanjay Dalvi told this reporter.
In the meanwhile, as Kartik assured that no stone will be left unturned to crack the case, police have started getting details on the missing persons’ report registered at different police stations. Sources said that even the medical report of the body has not been conclusive. A first information report is registered under section 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code.
