OPINIONS, ARGUMENTS DOMINATED FIRST ROUND OF MEETING BETWEEN CM AND MLAs FROM MINING BELT

PANAJI (GOA) The first round of meeting  held between Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and MLAs from mining belt to resolve the ongoing crisis on the mining industry remained inconclusive; even as government is considering auctioning of leases as the only way forward.
 
The second round of meeting is scheduled on February 24
 
During the Meeting, additional solicitor general atmaram nadkarni opined that government should go for auction of leases, as it is the only and the best option left before he state to ensure smooth functioning of the sector. 
 
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar too endorse the view.
 
” I have given my opinion to the government to got for auction of leases as per MMDR act,” Nadkarni said after the meeting.
 
MLA Deepak paradise confirmed that government is considering auction as the option for granting leases. ” Chief Minister said that government should go for auction. We would set certain conditions, wherein even the outsider bidding for mines in Goa will have to ensure employment for locals,” he said. 
 
However, both BJP and congress MLAs  seems not in the favour of auction. Pramod sawant, Nilesh Cabral, Chandrakant Kavlekar and pratapsingh range refused to talk to media.
 
” no decision is taken the second round of meeting is scheduled on Feb 24,” they said.
