Panaji (Goa): The Mapusa city woke up to a rude shock when one of its government-cum-commercial building caught fire leaving at least three shops destroyed. The Essar Trade Centre that also houses sub registrar’s office caught fire, reason of which is still being probed by the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services.
The entire building was covered with thick smoke making it difficult for the fire fighters to douse the flames. However, they used special equipment besides the fire tender to douse the fire and rescued people from inside.
Huge crowd had gathered outside while some offered help to the rescue team. The situation is now in control even as the loss is being estimated.
