A Bharatiya Janata Party (Goa) office bearer has filed a police complaint against a local media agency, for spreading false information about Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s health.

In his complaint to Ponda police station, Sunil Desai has stated that news spread about CM in his (Desai) name is totally false. He has attached copies of messages circulated on social media groups for the investigating agency to probe.

“Some people are circulating false news about CM’s health and misguiding the people in my name. The false news was circulated on February 17 and the second was circulated on February 19. I have enclosed the copies of the messages. Kindly investigate the matter and do the needful,” he said in a compliant letter to Ponda police.

Earlier in the morning, Desai posted on various media groups slamming the false news.  He said, “This is to inform you that the news being spread with respect to CM Manohar Parrikar in my name is a fake news. Neither did I visit him in Mumbai nor is the news about his death that is being circulated in my name true.  There are certain elements of the news media that are trying to misguide the people of Goa.”
