Panaji (Goa): The ongoing Budget Session of the Legislative Assembly discussing motion of thanks to Governor’s address today, saw repeated mention of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who is currently undergoing treatment at Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai for pancreas ailment.
Ruling legislators like Glen Ticlo and Nilesh Cabral appreciated that politicians cutting across party lines and general public are wishing and praying for Parrikar’s good health. This emotion, they told the House is because of CM’s good work for the State.
“We are hopeful that he (Parrikar) will be here (in the House and back to Goa). Everybody in Goa including the Opposition is praying for his good health. This is because of his good work for the people of Goa,” Ticlo, who is also thr BJP Chier Whip told the House while supporting the motion.
Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral echoed the view stating that even those who have been criticising CM are praying for his good health. “The social media is full of good wishes for CM. Even those criticising him are praying for his good health. The opposition parties are also wishing him to return fit and fine…. because CM has done a lot of work for the people of Goa,” he commented as the Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar smiled indicating his nod. The legislators pointed at various welfare schemes started by BJP for different categories of people in Goa while others have been upgraded.
The Congress Legislature Party has resolved to call on CM at Lilavati Hospital after the assembly session concludes on February 22. The month long session was curtailed to four days, a decision taken by Business advisory committee in view of Parrikar’s ill health.
