Panaji (Goa): From puja to mass prayer to reciting of Quran, well wishers of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar are leaving no stone unturned to get him back to a healthy life.
Ever since he is admitted to Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai for pancreatitis treatment; all have been praying for his speedy recovery. His popularity is such that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many from the union and Goa cabinet flew to Mumbai to visit him.
The Budget session of the Legislative Assembly, that concludes today has also been missing his presence with politicians across all parties expressing their emotions.
Amidst speculations about his health, well wishers are holding prayers at different places.
A special mass by Mala, Panaji residents will be conducted in Mary Immaculate Conception Church at 11am on Saturday for his recovery and health.
Similarly, prayers will also be held at Churches in Succor, Penha De Franca, Alto Porvorim and Salvador De Mundo at 7am on Sunday.
People from other faiths have also arranged for puja to pray for Parrikar’s speedy recovery. While on Friday, a Mahamrutunjaya jap is arranged at Porvorim, recitation of verses from Quran and Duwa will also be held on the same day.
At Mahalaxmi temple where Parrikar often pays his visit seeking blessing of the Goddess before starting any good work, a Sudarshan Hom and Dhanvantari Puja from 12 noon will be conducted by a host of priests.
Parrikar who is presently under treatment continues to take a stock of the happenings in the Assembly and has also given final touches to Budget that will be presented on today. Minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar who is the in charge of the government will table the Budget but no discussion will be held.
Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte has called off his birthday celebration and urged his well wishers not to go ahead with this celebration. He has asked the people to instead join to pray for Parrikar’s Health and speedy recovery.
