CM TABLES A REVENUE SURPLUS BUDGET 2018-19; FOCUS ON EMPLOYMENT SECTOR
Panaji (Goa) Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today presented a revenue surplus budget 2018-19, with major focus on employment sector. Government has pegged revenue growth of 10 percent for the coming financial year.
Parrikar, who landed in Goa today morning following treatment at Lilavati Hospital, said that the financial statement placed before the House is a interim measure as due to his ill health he was prevented from preparing a detail budget speech.
The total budgetary layout is Rs 17,123.28 crores as against Rs 16,027.01 crore of the last year, presenting an increase of 6.84 percent.
The revenue surplus is estimated at Rs 144.65 crores.
The government has laid stress on generating local employment for which a total provision of Rs 548.89 crores in the sectors of industry, labour and employment and information technology has been made.
In the education sector including medical education a total of Rs 2445 crores have been made.
A whopping Rs 2922.36 crore is provided for public works, water resources and other infrastructure while another Rs 2203 crore is marked towards electricity and non-conventional energy. Rs 1001 crore provision is made for Health sector.
Rs 1470.62 crore for school education, Rs 345.65 cr for higher education, Rs 158.11 cr for technical education and Rs 283.06 cr for sports and youth affairs.
Rs 1091 cr are earmarked towards social welfare and tribal welfare. The agriculture sector is given Rs 453 crore, while 219 crore are for tourism. Rs 241.55 crores are for panchayat and Rs 423.40 crores are for municipal administration.
