Porvorim (Goa): The usual visit to the government offices to get your certificates will be a thing of the past now, if you have internet connectivity and know few steps to log in to the website www.goaonline.gov.in.
Goa government today launched a web portal providing various certificates online, saving time from visiting government offices.
State Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who launched the portal in presence of state Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte, also announced that in couple of days the government will waive off the fees applicable to get the certificates.
“We have been charging minimal fee to procure these certificates which will be waived off in next couple of days. State government would be issuing a formal notification for it in two days,” Parrikar said.
He clarified that those who procure certificates online will not have to pay any fees while those who visit the offices to get these certificates physically will have to continue paying the fees.
State Information and Technology department has brought in caste certificate, income certificate, residence certificate and similar services under the online ambit.
The state government is also moving towards creating digital locker for the citizens which can be used to keep these certificate in e-format. “Once you procure the certificate you can save it in digital locker. You can use the certificate whenever you want. If state government wants, they can also pull it out from the locker,” Parrikar said.
Parrikar said that the state government will begin kiosks at certain places which will educate people on the concept of digital lockers.
He also said, more services would be added to the portal which will also be brought under Right to Service Act, a historic legislation which will make the government functioning efficient.
