Amidst allegations of abetment of suicide against a police sub inspector, Goa Police has transferred him to the Goa Reserve Police (GRP) in a bid to tone down the campaign against him.

PSI Gautam Shetkar, attached with the Verna police station has been shunted to GRP following demands from the family of a deceased lady constable to suspend and arrest him for the offense.

Twenty year old Arsala Parsekar had ended her life earlier this month by consuming ratol. The Anjuna resident was a new recruit to the department.

While the cause of her action still remains a mystery, Parsekar family had charged PSI Gautam for coercing their daughter taking this extreme step.

Her family had approached the police chief Muktesh Chander demanding action. The case from Verna police station was later transferred to Crime Branch wherein the PSI was summoned multiple times for recording statement.

Sources said he conceded of being in a friendly relation with the lady cop and that both had mutually called off their friendship.  However, with no action against the PSI, the family is demanding action.

Moreover, photos of the young lady constable with an unknown man in an alleged offensive position has gone viral prompting a local NGO to file a police complaint demanding punishment against the guilty.
In a complaint filed at Crime Branch over a week ago, NGO Savera stated that circulation of nude photos, suspected to be of LPC Parsekar is defaming her family and particularly the deceased’s unmarried sister.

The NGO alleges she could have been a victim of blackmail.

The Mahila Congress has also been demanding action against the PSI.
