The Villagers of Candolim today demanded scrapping of draft outline development plan (ODP) and the planning and development area (PDA) for their village.

Addressing media persons, the president of village committee Sachin Kutikar said that North Goa Planning and development authority (NGPDA) has not followed the procedure while drafting the ODP.

“We had challenged the planning process in the High Court and had got stay in November, last year,” he said adding that even the Town and country planning minister vijay sardessai had admitted that there were lacunas in the planning process.

He said that as per article 243 (G) of the Indian Constitution, preparation of plan for social justice and economic justice, has to be drafted by local governing bodies. “This means, the plan has to be prepared by the respective panchayats and not by NGPDA,” he stated.

“As such, we demand, that the draft ODP be scrapped and also the village be removed out of PDA,” Kutikar demanded.
