Panaji (Goa): Rohan Shrikant Joshi has filed a PIL writ petition in the High Court of Bombay at Goa, challenging insufficient efforts by the state government to control ‘Monkey Fever,’ resulting in numerous fatalities.

He has also prayed for compensation, payable to the next of kin of the deceased who has died due to the said epidemic.

Joshi claimed that vaccination has proved to be useless and efforts are required to be made to control the population of monkeys.

He has also sought grant of arm licenses to citizens to protect themselves from infected monkeys.

The petition is likely to come up for hearing before the High Court on May 19 at 11 am.
