Panaji (Goa) With hardly few days left for the iron ore mining industry to come to a standstill, the Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo has demanded that the coalition partners- BJP, MGP, GFP and Independents- should call for a joint meeting to discuss and work out solution for the crisis that are going to hit the State with closer of mining industry after March 15.

The BJP MLA has further demanded that Union Minister for Mines Narendra Singh Tomar and Minister for Shipping Nitin Gadkari should come to Goa and brief the people, dependent on the industry, on the steps the government intends to take to protect their livelihood.

“There is going to be total panic in the State, especially in the mining belts. I strongly feel that all the coalition partners need to seat together and come out with a solution that can be put in place after March 15 to protect the livelihood of the people dependent on the industry,” Lobo told reporters during a press conference.

“We can place the same proposal before the CAC and later before the cabinet for its implementation,” he added.

“In absence of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is undergoing treatment at USA, we just cannot adopt “wait and watch” attitude,” he stated.

Lobo is of the strong view that if the Central leadership can come down to Goa to form a government than why not now when the State is in crisis. “It is collective responsibility of State and Centre to protect the livelihood of over one lakh people dependent on the industry,” he stated.
