Panaji  (Goa): The Goa Police Department is contemplating an inquiry into a fight that broke out between a police sub inspector and constable this evening.

PSI Vikram Naik, already facing inquiry into a bribery case is accused of hurling a book – probably a diary – at the constable during their duty hours at GRP camp, Altinho.

The cause of the fight is however not known as there is also no police complaint filed against any of the two. Sources however say it could be the work stress or involvement of one of them in an affair with a lady constable.

A senior police officer said the department has taken strict cognisance of the incident stating that this is a disciplined force and such nuisance will not be tolerated. “We will recommend the top brass to initiate an inquiry. Although no police case is filed so far, an internal inquiry should be launched…” he said.

The constable was taken for medical examination and no injury was found. The PSI had about two years ago suspended and arrested in a bribery case.
